Towards a Popular, Rights-Based, and Scientific Alliance to Confront Environmental Genocide (Ecocide) in Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria
To all groups, individuals, and associations — especially environmental ones, human rights organizations, and research and scientific centers,
Today, we face a new and dangerous chapter in the Zionist aggression against Lebanon and the region. It targets not only stones and people but extends to striking the foundations of life and sustainability along the Lebanese and Syrian borders with occupied Palestine and the occupied Golan. The systematic environmental genocide practiced by the Zionist enemy has transcended traditional limits of war, reaching the level of destroying vital systems for future generations.
Nature of the Current Threat
Evidence is accumulating regarding a dangerous escalation by the occupation, including:
- Chemical Warfare (and Biological?): Extensive and systematic spraying of unknown poisons and substances along the border areas for several consecutive days.
- Destruction of Soil and Vegetation Cover: Use of materials intended to destroy forests and woodlands and render agricultural lands unusable for many years.
- Underground Activities: Exploitation of the region’s transformation into an occupied/military zone to carry out undocumented activities that could lead to groundwater contamination or destruction of local geology and disruption of the biological balance.
>>> Objectives of the Action
The Agricultural Movement and the Arab Network for Food Sovereignty are preparing a comprehensive file aimed at:
- Scientific Documentation: Monitoring and analyzing samples (where possible) and determining the long-term effects of the poisons used.
- Legal Accountability: Submitting a series of formal complaints to international organizations and specialized courts for war and environmental criminals.
- Diplomatic Pressure: Exposing the falsehood of the enemy's international claims of "sustainability" while actively committing environmental genocide.
>>> How Can Your Organization Contribute? <<<
Therefore, we invite you to join this national effort through:
- Scientific Contribution: Providing technical expertise to analyze the environmental impact and document violations with material evidence.
- Legal Support: Adopting and submitting legal complaints and memoranda in the name of your organizations to international references.
- Awareness and Advocacy: Circulating this file in international environmental and human rights forums to pressure for a halt to these crimes.
"Our land is our dignity, and our food sovereignty is today subject to an attempt at comprehensive and systematic erasure."
